Mark Alexander lives in Portland Oregon where he is enjoying a comeback career after a decade-long hiatus from performing. Prior to his move to the Pacific Northwest in August of 2011, Mark lived in Boston Massachusetts for 15 years. His career started in Spokane Washington where he began playing professionally at age 16.

Mark earned a Master of Music degree from The New England Conservatory where he studied with Donald Palma, Cecil McBee, Danilo Perez and John McNeil. His studies included performances with a wide range of jazz and classical ensembles under the direction of Frank Battisti, George Russell, Jerry Bergonzi, Allan Chase, Steven Drury and many others.

He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Western Washington University where he studied with Chuck Israels.

Additional education includes studies at Berklee College of Music and private studies with Roma Vayspapir, Bruce Pennell, Rich Appleman, Bruce Gertz and Clipper Anderson.

Mark's career includes appearances at jazz and classical festivals throughout Europe and North America and performances with The Three Tenors, Andrea Bocelli, The Spokane Symphony Orchestra, George Russell, Boston Modern Bass Quartet, The Chuck Israels Jazz Orchestra, The New Jazz Repertory Ensemble, The Spokane Jazz Orchestra, Spokane Civic Theater, Hans Indigo Inventions, Coeur d'Alene Summer Theater, Alexei Tsiganov, Tony Malaby, Brooke Sofferman, Kevin Hanson, The Foghorns and The Shades.
